Baruj Salinas

Baruj Salinas left Cuba in 1956 and moved to Miami. He studied at Kent State University in Ohio. In the 1970s he lived in Barcelona and worked closely with Joan Miró and Antoní Tapies. Besides his success as a painter and engraver, Salinas is also an educator, having taught fine art for many years at Miami Dade College. He has had solo exhibitions at America’s Collection, Coral Gables (1998, 2008, 2013, and 2019); Samuel Chen Art Center at Central Connecticut State University, Hartford (2002); Vallon-Galerie Editart, Geneva (1996, 2000, and 2002); and Museo de Arte Moderno, Mexico City (1988), to mention a few.

Salinas has work in the permanent collections of the Art Institute of Chicago, Chicago; Beit Uri Museum, Israel; Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes, Mexico City; John Ringling Museum of Art, Sarasota; Lowe Art Museum, Miami; Museo de Arte Moderno, Ibiza; and Museo del Barrio, New York; among others.
